Know what changed before you update the system running your rooms

ARC is installed operational software, so release notes should help you make a practical decision: what changed, whether it affects your rooms, and when you want to install it.

Current downloads and version-specific notes are available from the ARC Portal. This page explains the release process and what customers can expect every time a new version ships.

A safe update routine for a production ARC computer

1

Read the version notes

Check for changes to hardware integrations, game data, displays, or staff workflows used by your rooms.

2

Create a current backup

Use ARC’s backup tools before changing the installed runtime, especially on a computer running multiple rooms.

3

Choose a maintenance window

Install when no game depends on the ARC computer and someone can verify the system afterward.

4

Run a readiness check

Open ARC, verify connections and displays, reset a representative room, and confirm Game Systems Monitor is ready.

Where to look when an update raises a question

  • Use the version-specific notes in the Portal for the exact release you are considering.
  • Check the ARC documentation when a feature or setup workflow changed.
  • Ask in Discord if you want to compare the update with another owner’s hardware or room setup.
  • Email [email protected] for account, installation, or release-specific help.

Release notes are part of operational trust

Software updates should not ask an escape room owner to guess. A useful release note separates customer-visible improvements from technical maintenance and calls out anything that deserves testing before the next group arrives.

ARC’s goal is to make updates understandable without forcing customers to follow source-code activity or development conversations.
