Moments
Capture selected photos and short clips during a game, then review, download, and manage their retention.
Published Oct 28, 2026
Moments stores photos and short clips captured from cameras during a game. ARC does not record continuously: a game automation requests each capture, and a clip starts at that moment and runs forward. Moments are optional and require the Vision service and a configured camera.
Moments are not security recording
ARC has no 24/7 archive or rolling buffer. Moments contain only the requested photo or forward-running clip; a clip does not include footage from before its automation fires. For continuous surveillance, use a separate recorder.
Prepare a camera
Before adding an automation, install and enable Vision, add the camera, and assign it to the game that will capture it. The camera must still be enabled and assigned to that game when the automation runs. See Vision and cameras.
Add a capture to a game
In the game’s Editor → Logic → Automations, add a game automation with the trigger for the moment you want to capture—for example, an objective being completed. Add one of the Moments actions to its Do steps:
| Action | Options |
|---|---|
| Capture photos | Choose a camera, set Number of photos from 1 to 10, and set Seconds between photos from 1 to 10. A burst may span at most 30 seconds. |
| Capture clip | Choose a camera, set Clip length (seconds) from 3 to 30, and turn on Include audio if wanted and supported by the camera. Audio is off by default. |
The camera picker offers cameras assigned to that game. Test the automation before relying on it, and check its run details in the session timeline if a capture fails. A System automation cannot capture Moments, and a game automation cannot capture them when no session is running.
Keep captures intentional
Choose a trigger that clearly represents the moment staff and players expect to be captured. Consider whether the camera framing and, for clips, the audio suit that moment.
Review a session’s Moments
During a game, the Control information bar shows a Moments cell after the first capture. Select it to open that session’s collection. You can also open the collection from the session detail in Insights → Sessions.
- The collection shows photos and clips in capture order. A capture in progress or a failure appears with its status and, when available, a reason.
- Select a thumbnail to view it full size. Use Previous and Next to move through the collection. Clips have Play and Mute controls and do not start automatically.
- Use Download to save a photo or clip to the computer you are using. Delete asks for confirmation and removes that capture from the session.
- Details shows the camera, capture time, clip duration, file size, and whether the resulting clip contains audio.
Choose storage and retention
Open System → Overview → Moments. These settings apply across the business.
| Setting | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Storage location | Default lets ARC manage the folder. Choose a location selects a folder on the ARC computer; a network share path can also be entered. |
| Keep Moments | Retention choices are 7, 30, 90, or 180 days, 1 year, or Forever. Retention is measured from when the session started, so that session’s Moments expire together. Cleanup runs when ARC starts and then daily. |
| Total storage limit | Caps the space used by Moments, or set it to Unlimited. When the limit is exceeded, ARC removes the oldest sessions first. Lowering the limit takes effect at the next capture or daily cleanup, not immediately. |
| Cameras capturing at once | Sets a business-wide limit on simultaneous captures, or Unlimited. Only one capture can run on a given camera at a time; a conflicting later request is dropped rather than queued. |
Changing the storage location affects future captures; ARC does not move existing files. The folder picker opens on the ARC computer, so enter a network path if you are configuring ARC from another computer. ARC pauses captures before the selected volume becomes critically low.
Tell players what is captured
Photos and clips may show identifiable people; clips with audio may include their voices. Tell players about capture and use, follow the privacy rules that apply to your business, and choose a retention period that fits your needs. ARC stores Moments locally; sharing or sending a file is a staff member’s deliberate action.
Where to go next
- Vision and cameras — install the camera service, configure cameras, and make views.
- Game automations — build the trigger and capture action.
- Running a game — open Moments while a session is live.
- Session timelines — find captures from past sessions.
