Staff and Permissions
Create staff profiles, manage Control sign-in, and decide which people can open protected ARC areas.
Published Oct 28, 2026
Staff & Permissions is a panel opened from System → Overview. It manages the local staff directory, sign-in at ARC stations, and access to protected staff areas. Staff profiles are separate from ARC accounts: they identify the person operating a station and the staff member recorded with a session.
Create staff profiles
- Open System → Overview → Staff & Permissions and turn on Use staff profiles.
- Open the Staff tab and select Add staff member.
- Enter the person’s name. A display name and role are optional. Save the profile.
- Repeat for the active staff members who need to appear in Control and session records.
Use Archive for a person who should no longer appear in staff selection; archived people stay in history and can be restored if they return. Delete permanently removes the staff profile from the directory.
Require sign-in for Control
The Sign-in tab controls sign-in on ARC stations. Turn on Require sign-in for Control to require a staff member to sign in before opening Control or Master Control. If staff profiles are off, turn them on and add at least one active person first.
For each person, you can set a PIN or password in their staff profile. Numeric-only credentials are treated as a PIN; other credentials are passwords. Administrators must have a PIN or password. The sign-in screen lets staff choose their name and sign in; they can also switch person or sign out.
The sign-in settings also let you allow one person to stay signed in at several stations, set nightly sign-out, or sign out stations after a period of inactivity. These rules apply to signed-in ARC stations. The multiple-station option prevents an administrator from being signed out at a previous station when they sign in elsewhere; it does not exempt them from nightly or inactivity sign-out.
Protect staff areas
Permissions can lock access to Editor, System Settings, and Insights. When permissions are enabled, each staff profile can be assigned a level for a protected area:
| Level | Access |
|---|---|
| No access | The person cannot open the area. |
| Editor | Choose No access or Full access. |
| System | Choose No access or Full access. |
| Insights | Choose No access, View only, or View & edit. |
An Administrator can manage permissions and open every protected area. Before turning permissions on, choose an active administrator and confirm or create their PIN or password. ARC requires at least one active administrator and at least one active person with Staff & Permissions access. When multiple sign-ins are off, signing in elsewhere does not sign an administrator out of their previous station. Nightly and inactivity sign-out rules still apply to signed-in stations.
To enable permissions, open the Permissions section and choose the first administrator. Confirm an existing PIN or password, or create one, then select Enable permissions. After setup, only administrators can change permission assignments. Turn on the relevant Lock options to show each area on staff profiles, then assign access levels to each person.
Set up recovery before locking an area
Before locking Editor, System, or Insights, make sure an active administrator can sign in with a known PIN or password. Otherwise staff may be unable to unlock the area at a station.
